How was your weekend?

Maybe we experienced the last bit of sun this weekend. But let’s see what we or I did this weekend.

My Friday evening was quite relaxed. I spent a wonderful evening with my host family in White Rock. First, we had a look at the renewed pier, because it was closed for a while. After that we went to a cool and well known restaurant, at least in the area. After nachos and something to drink, we enjoyed the clear evening air and drove back home.

Saturday it was time to meet with the INTERNeX crew. We went on a bike tour with some of you. We met at the Waterfront Station and rented bicycles. Then it started for us. We drove the complete sea wall. Thank God, we got good weather and the thunderstorm that came later didn’t affect us. We needed about an hour and 15 minutes and after we had finished our bike tour everyone went their own way. Since I was already in Downtown, I thought that I could browse a bit in the shops and yes, of course I bought something. I couldn’t hold myself back. Then I headed home and watched a movie with my host family.

On Sunday I went for a brunch in Fort-Langley in the morning. If you’ve never been there before, Fort-Langley is a super sweet little town with lots of small antiques shops where you can experience a real journey through time. At least I found it really exciting to see objects from 1920. I spent a few hours in Fort-Langley before I made my way back. And then it was finally time to eat something German again, I was invited to eat, and it was cooked extra traditional German food. After three months in Canada, which I do not want to miss in any case, there are times in which one misses the food from the homeland. I was really full after I finished the food, on the train I almost napped, but I managed to wait until I got home.

Hope you all had a nice weekend and even if it’s rather dull weather today, I wish you a good start into the week.

See you at the PUB NiGHT on Wednesday!

How was your weekend?

I hope Monday has treated you well. At least the weather has been treating us very well through the whole weekend. Let’s do a little recap of what happened during these sunny days.

This weekend was a pretty chill one for me. On Friday we spent the night chilling with some friends. We made delicious dinner together and started the night of by playing some beer pong. We also checked this one veteran bar called The Legion where you can find pretty cheap drinks (just saying).

On Saturday I headed to White Rock to visit my friend. White Rock is located right next to the US border and it is pretty cool since you can literally see to the States while standing on a beach in Canada. Once again we enjoyed an amazing sunset at the beach. Yes I really am a big fan of sunsets.

Sunday it was time to gather up the INTERNeX gang and head out to play some Laser Tag! We played two rounds all together and I must say I did not expect it to be as sweaty as it was. It really was a work out. Especially in our first round when we had about 30 kids playing with us and running around like crazy. The second round was luckily a bit calmer since we had some adults playing with us. In the second round our gang was also divided into two different groups so we had the chance to compete against each other. Not mentioning who won and who didn’t but my team did play pretty well 😉

Big thanks to everyone who showed up. This week we have a lot of things coming up so make sure to stay tuned!

First things first, PuB NiGHT this Wednesday @ The Two Parrots!

How was your weekend?

It’s Monday and I’m really feeling the Monday morning blues right now. It was an amazing weekend, but also very sad. I had to say goodbye to three great people, who I really hope to see again soon! But let me tell you about my weekend with all the ups and downs:

I started my weekend on Friday after work with a fun time at the Yale Saloon. We enjoyed the line dancing lessons given by a real cowboy. It was loads of fun, even though I got really confused and had trouble following the steps. After the lessons we stayed a little longer and just danced along the good mood country music. At around 11pm it was time to go home, because the next day was going to be a long one!

42339565150_bcb3d2ac76_nOn Saturday, we met at 11am at Vancouver City Centre Station and made our way to White Rock. After a troublesome start of the journey (those of you who were there: you know what I am talking about – those of you who weren’t: just imagine a stupid-me messing it up), we managed to arrive at the cute little town of White Rock. First, we went down the pier and looked at the fish and starfish in the ocean. We then went down the beach a little bit, to look at the famous white rock. Well, I am really sorry to tell you this, but it is just a giant rock, painted white … But still, interesting to look at. 😉
As it was already early afternoon, we got hungry. So, we went to this nice restaurant on the promenade and enjoyed some delicious lunch. We were not tired of this town yet, so we spend a few more hours on the beach where we talked and played some games.
Once we were back in Vancouver we got ready for the night: It was time to pay another visit to The Bourbon. It was a goodbye party for three of our INTERNeX group. It is quite sad, but why drown in your sorrow, if you can have a last fun night together?20180819_004244

On Sunday I slept in quite late. I mean, it’s Sunday, right? You’re allowed to have at least one lazy day per week. So, after a really relaxed day I met the PR-team and two candidates at MeeT, to have a final dinner with Angy and Kerstin. They’re both flying home today. I’m gonna miss you, girls. 😦 It was a great time with you!

I really hope your weekend was good as well. See you guys on Wednesday for our PuB NiGHT at the Beaver Bar!

What to do on the weekend?

Congratulations, you made it through the week! As a reward, you get two summer days in Vancouver. Do you have plans already? Here are some ideas on how to spend the upcoming days.

I will start off the weekend like real Canadians: with country music and line dancing. It is Cowgirl Friday in the Yale Saloon tonight. So ladies, until 11pm you do not have to pay any entrance fee! The line dancing lesson starts at 8pm. And don’t worry – everybody can join the fun, no matter if you’ve already done it before or not. A real cowboy shows the choreography and you can just copy his steps. Yes, a cowboy! So, guys, you are also more than welcome to join the lesson. It’s a lot of fun and definitely a must-do when in Canada!

7584508250_09d89bfff5_nOn Saturday, the INTERNeX crew is going to explore White Rock. This cozy town is located about an hour away in the south of Vancouver. We got plenty of time to take pictures in front of the actual white rock and discover the pier. White Rock is also a great place to walk along the promenade and to enjoy the sun at the beach. Meet us at 11am in front of the Vancouver City Centre Station, if you want to join this relaxed day.

Have you ever seen a sports match in Vancouver? Saturday is your chance to watch the game of the Vancouver Whitecaps FC vs. New York Red Bulls. Kick-off is at 4pm at the BC Place, the big stadium that you have probably already seen in downtown. There are still tickets available, check it out here. The ambiance in the stadium is different than in a European one, so buy your ticket and discover the Canadian way. Pretty cool Saturday afternoon for all football fans guaranteed!

Sundays are for relaxing! However, the weather is too good to stay in bed all day. So, grab a blanket and go to the VanDusen Botanical Garden. Together with you friends, you can enjoy a chamber concert in this beautiful setting. The ‘Social Sunday’ takes place from 4-6pm. You only have to pay the regular admission fee of $11.25 to visit the garden and enjoy the live music. Cocktails, snacks, music and sun – sounds like a perfect Sunday to me!

Whatever you are up to, enjoy your weekend! I hope to spend my last Saturday in Canada with many of you in White Rock.

What to do on the weekend

The weekend is here and the weather is promising to be great again! So here are some ideas to make this an awesome weekend.

20132868_10209484930381143_325948365_o

Our weekly event already happened last night at the free evening of the Vancouver Folk Music Festival. If you missed it or want to go again, the festival will be the entire weekend. The festival is one of the biggest music festivals here and definitely worth checking out. It is located at Jericho Park and you can get tickets online or at the festival site.

Another option is the Greek Summerfest. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday you can enjoy Greek food, culture and music at St. Nicholas and Dimitrios Greek Orthodox Church.

If you were still planning on going to White Rock, a good option is to go on Saturday night when the TD Concerts at the Pier is happening. This free concert features R&B All Stars. Or go to the Red Truck Concert Series. Red Truck is a beer company and they organize a few concerts this summer. It starts at 4 PM on Saturday and it will cost you $35.

If you’re more into theatre you could check out Theatre Under The Stars in Stanley Park. This Sunday they are performing The Drowsy Chaperone. Just remember to buy your tickets beforehand.

Or just take the weekend to enjoy the weather on one of the many beaches or try out a hike!

I hope you have an amazing weekend we’ll see you on the next PuB NiGHT!
