The last full week before Christmas has started, so lets get it on. This is also the last official week, where Christmas music in the office is .. let’s say ,tolerated’. So go out and enjoy .. at last this is what will be doing!
The weekend has been very active. Saturday morning the INTERNeX crew gathered in downtown for a very adventurous trip to the mountains. And by ‘in the morning’ I basically mean in the middle of the night, as it was still dark outside and not even coffee was working effectively against the jawning. Besides that it must have been very entertaining for outsiders to see us struggling with the heavy equipment making our way through downtown. Eventually we actually made it to the bus and headed towards Grouse Mountain. The gondola took us all the way up the mountain and the first snow was to be seen. Some of us, maybe especially the Australian, bursted out in excitement by seeing the beautiful white wonderland. Apparently snow isn’t so common in down under ;-). Some of us decided it would be a better idea to rent out the equipment up the mountain, therefore the first stop has been the rental store. 
Those who rented there stuff in downtown waited outside, and decided to prepare for a little snowball attack to give the other ones a warm welcome as soon as they’d leave the rental store. Yes we know, this is incredibly grown up … :-D. As the waiting time turned out to be a lot longer than we expected, we ended up firing all the ammunition on each other. Of course we had enough time to even prepare a second round for the ones inside, which they clearly
appreciated… not ;-D.
Anyways we finally managed to get up the mountain, put on those skies and/or snowboards and more or less successfully went down the slopes. For lunch we treated ourselves with pizza and some other semi-healthy snacks and cool beer and ciders before we went back out in the snow. Also discovering the fact that snowboards are the perfect toboggans, was a lot of fun and apparently a pretty good way to get down a slope if you are struggling to do it the recommended way, with your feet on the board. We also discovered that exactly that is apparently undesirable … spoilsports! 
After this very long and exhausting day we got into the shuttle back to downtown. What a fantastic day. I cannot wait to go again.
Sunday I went on a little hike to the Quarry Rock and we actually enjoyed a stunning view from up there. As it was raining in North Vancouver and the sun shining in Vancouver, the sky looked breathtaking. So in case you haven’t been there – this is definelty a place to see! 
So far so good.

In the 1960s, it was discovered that gravity in Hudson Bay and surrounding areas is lower than in the rest of the world. How? Well, it is pretty complicated, so pay close attention. One theory involves convection in the Earth’s mantle. A complex sentence, I know. So let’s break it down. First of all, it is important to know what convection is. Convection means “the transfer of heat through a liquid or gas, caused by molecular motion.” Secondly, the Earth’s mantle consists of magma. Magma is a hot, molten rock that is always moving in order to create convection currents. Convection brings the Earth’s continental plates down, which means the mass in that area gets smaller and therefore, there is a reduction in gravity. Considering this paragraph is basically a brainteaser that contains a lot of complicated science words, I will spare you the second theory.
It might not be Christmas just yet, but that doesn’t mean we can’t talk about it! In fact, Canada has such a great fact related to Christmas, that I just HAVE to tell you all about it. In Canada, you have the opportunity to send a letter to Santa Claus. There is an actual postal address you can send your letter to and as long as you include a return address, Santa will read the letter and send one back to you! Santa and his elves make sure every single letter is personal and exciting. Don’t worry; you don’t have to be a kid to participate! You just have to believe in Santa and the magic of Christmas.
We all met at the bus at 7am to mark the start of our adventure. It was early, but luckily the long bus ride made sure we could all catch up on some sleep. Our first stop was Hope, where we could admire wooden sculptures of bears and a beautiful rainbow. Next stop: Kamloops. Lunchtime! Back on the bus, we played the ‘Moose or Beaver’ game, where everyone had to choose whether the loony (another word for a Canadian dollar) that Erin, our fantastic tour guide, flipped would land on the loon bird or the queen. Everyone looked hilarious, but we were all in this together. Right before we arrived at the hotel in Valemount, we went to visit Rearguard Falls Provincial Park. The entire park was covered in snow, which was breathtaking. Then we checked into the hotel, had dinner at a nearby restaurant and to end this busy day of traveling, we had a little party in our room.

Since the sun was up and started melting the snow, the hike became a game whenever a little snow avalanche fell down from the trees. When does it come down? Who’s head is getting hit next? But we managed all slippery stairs and other obstacles successfully. After a quick stop at home to get some dry clothes and a hot shower, it was already time to leave again.
in downtown. The bus took us to Cypress Mountain, one of the local mountains of Vancouver. After a few minutes of skiing in the clouds, the sun started to shine. The weather changed so quickly up there, it was crazy! While skiing and snowboarding, we had a stunning view over Vancouver and surrounding from the top. The day passed by quickly, so it was already dark when we returned our rentals and stepped back in the bus. Enjoying a full day on the slopes on a casual Sunday is definitely something I can get used to!
