PuB NiGHT Review: The Dime On Granville

At the last PuB NiGHT we checked out one of the new places-to-be in Vancouver – the Dime On Granville. It is located in the heart of Downtown at the Granville Street. The Dime is part of the Warehouse Group. The Warehouse Group has established itself as one Canada’s most popular restaurants for its tasty food, refreshing drinks, and energetic staff. The best part is, that every item on the  food menu costs just $5,95. 

On Wednesday the INTERNeX gang checked out this new Pub and now we can for sure say: approved. Great location, delicious food and good drinks.

After the extended weekend because of the Canada Day on Monday, we were even more excited about the next PuB NiGHT to go partying again. Not to mention that this week thirteen new candidates started an internship, a volunteer etc. by INTERNeX. 

The night started off with some food and drinks. Our waitress just kept running with pitchers of beers, mojitos and cocktails for all new people arriving.

As time went on our tables at the Dime filled more and more. At 9 pm there were already 20 people. So many of you showed up, new and old faces – it couldn’t have been any better. When everyone finished the last beer, cider or cocktail it was time to say goodbye to the Dime. Some of us extended the evening, as it has become a tradition, at the Yale Saloon.

To sum it all up. The last PuB NiGHT united good food, drinks and deep conversations. Besides, we were able to welcome a lot newcomers at the INTERNeX gang. It was nice to get to know some of you better. I am sure we will have much more great PuB NiGHTs here in Vancouver. 

I had a great time last night and I hope you did too! Now I am looking forward to see many of you on Saturday for our hiking excursion at the Lynn Canyon park.

PuB NiGHT Review: The Beaver Tap house

 

Another Wednesday, another PuB NiGHT! Besides it was my second PuB NiGHT with the INTERNeX gang and my first PuB NiGHT I had to organize. After some researche I decided to reserve the Beaver Tap House. I wasn´t there before but their Internet review sounded good. 

At the end of the night I probably can say, it was a good choice. I think everybody had a great evening. 

After we managed that everybody had a good seat, we talked a lot about everything and everybody. I also met some new faces yesterday. 

Furthermore it is to mention, that a special of the Beaver Bar is the famous music bingo every Wednesday. A song is played and you have to mark the singer and song title on your paper. Quite tough sometimes, but with team work we managed. In the first round Lukas and another girl, not from us, screamed BINGO simultaneously. But unfortunately she got the free Beer pitcher… 

All in all the music bingo was really funny, and I am sure that someone of us will win the next time.

We left the Beaver Bar at about 11:30 pm, but some of us were not tired at this time yet. Because of that a part of the INTERNeX group went on to the Yale Saloon. At the Yale we were almost the only ones, which is why the DJ played the Tequila song especially for us. The dance floor was only occupied by INTERNEX people. It was pretty cool to dance together with 10 other guys in an empty Pub 😀

At the end of this blog post, I like to say that I had a great time last night and I hope you did too! Thanks for coming!

Now I´m really looking forward to the weekend.

Cause that’s when our great Whistler trip is coming up. I hope to see many of you there again.

PuB NiGHT Review: The Two Parrots

What a night. The Two Parrots, awesome INTERNeX gang, the Yale Saloon, pool and some line dancing; what else do you need to make a boring Wednesday night into a great party night? Nothing!

As mentioned above we started the night gathering up at the Two Parrots which is located at Granville. Once again a lot of people showed up and we were even having some struggles fitting our huge group to the tables reserved for us. This wasn’t really a problem for us since we are not afraid to squeeze in and make some room for more people. I think there were around 20 of us all together.

When the night was coming closer to midnight our group moved the party one block away to the Yale Saloon. This time there was a pretty big group of us still at the Yale. Sadly for us the legendary bull was not in use ☹ We still managed to find out other things to do. We were playing pool and at some point there was a line dancing course happening at the dance floor. For most of us it was the first time learning line dancing but I bet we will be pros in that in the end of the summer!

 

Once again it was nice to hang at the Yale since our group was basically the only one present. It almost felt like a private party. I feel like Yale is becoming a tradition for the INTERNeX gang on Wednesdays. We will see what happens. Although the night was awesome and everyone had fun it was time to say goodbye to Jesper since this pub night was his last one. We will miss you Jesper!

Tomorrow is Game Night time! Make sure to show up to the office at 6pm to join for some fun games ☺

How was your weekend?

It’s Monday and I’m really feeling the Monday morning blues right now. It was an amazing weekend, but also very sad. I had to say goodbye to three great people, who I really hope to see again soon! But let me tell you about my weekend with all the ups and downs:

I started my weekend on Friday after work with a fun time at the Yale Saloon. We enjoyed the line dancing lessons given by a real cowboy. It was loads of fun, even though I got really confused and had trouble following the steps. After the lessons we stayed a little longer and just danced along the good mood country music. At around 11pm it was time to go home, because the next day was going to be a long one!

On Saturday, we met at 11am at Vancouver City Centre Station and made our way to White Rock. After a troublesome start of the journey (those of you who were there: you know what I am talking about – those of you who weren’t: just imagine a stupid-me messing it up), we managed to arrive at the cute little town of White Rock. First, we went down the pier and looked at the fish and starfish in the ocean. We then went down the beach a little bit, to look at the famous white rock. Well, I am really sorry to tell you this, but it is just a giant rock, painted white … But still, interesting to look at. 😉
As it was already early afternoon, we got hungry. So, we went to this nice restaurant on the promenade and enjoyed some delicious lunch. We were not tired of this town yet, so we spend a few more hours on the beach where we talked and played some games.
Once we were back in Vancouver we got ready for the night: It was time to pay another visit to The Bourbon. It was a goodbye party for three of our INTERNeX group. It is quite sad, but why drown in your sorrow, if you can have a last fun night together?

On Sunday I slept in quite late. I mean, it’s Sunday, right? You’re allowed to have at least one lazy day per week. So, after a really relaxed day I met the PR-team and two candidates at MeeT, to have a final dinner with Angy and Kerstin. They’re both flying home today. I’m gonna miss you, girls. 😦 It was a great time with you!

What to do on the weekend?

Congratulations, you made it through the week! As a reward, you get two summer days in Vancouver. Do you have plans already? Here are some ideas on how to spend the upcoming days.

I will start off the weekend like real Canadians: with country music and line dancing. It is Cowgirl Friday in the Yale Saloon tonight. So ladies, until 11pm you do not have to pay any entrance fee! The line dancing lesson starts at 8pm. And don’t worry – everybody can join the fun, no matter if you’ve already done it before or not. A real cowboy shows the choreography and you can just copy his steps. Yes, a cowboy! So, guys, you are also more than welcome to join the lesson. It’s a lot of fun and definitely a must-do when in Canada!

On Saturday, the INTERNeX crew is going to explore White Rock. This cozy town is located about an hour away in the south of Vancouver. We got plenty of time to take pictures in front of the actual white rock and discover the pier. White Rock is also a great place to walk along the promenade and to enjoy the sun at the beach. Meet us at 11am in front of the Vancouver City Centre Station, if you want to join this relaxed day.

Have you ever seen a sports match in Vancouver? Saturday is your chance to watch the game of the Vancouver Whitecaps FC vs. New York Red Bulls. Kick-off is at 4pm at the BC Place, the big stadium that you have probably already seen in downtown. There are still tickets available, check it out here. The ambiance in the stadium is different than in a European one, so buy your ticket and discover the Canadian way. Pretty cool Saturday afternoon for all football fans guaranteed!

Sundays are for relaxing! However, the weather is too good to stay in bed all day. So, grab a blanket and go to the VanDusen Botanical Garden. Together with you friends, you can enjoy a chamber concert in this beautiful setting. The ‘Social Sunday’ takes place from 4-6pm. You only have to pay the regular admission fee of $11.25 to visit the garden and enjoy the live music. Cocktails, snacks, music and sun – sounds like a perfect Sunday to me!
