INTERNeX Explorer Ep3 – 2017 behind the scenes

The third episode is already online since April 1st, and that is not a joke, although we had a big laugh again with filming the scenes for this episode.

IEX episode 3.pngThis months episode was a bit more challenging since time ran out fast with all the other tasks we have. Besides that Janel’s mom visited Vancouver, so we had to miss Janel for a week. Because of that the filming was all over the place this month, while normally we film almost everything in one week.

For the informational part we decided to inform you a bit more about Yaletown, a gorgeous part of downtown with a thriving fashion district, nice boutiques and restaurants with patios. This will be the perfect place to blow of some steam during your lunch break if your office is in downtown. Unfortunately the nickname raincouver really came true this month, and we didn’t find a shiny day outside to shoot. Finally the sun was there on March 30th, two days before the deadline. We quickly went outside to shoot the entire Yaletown part with Danielle.

We were so happy that we finally filmed everything, but at the same time Thursday already came to an end. This meant there was only one day to edit the entire video, which can be quite stressful. Normally we spread the editing part over a few days, so we have fresh and creative minds every time. It was an intense day to get everything right: all the videos in the correct place, the voice-overs on the right spot and some green screens we needed to cover with lovely pictures.

So we hope you enjoyed watching the video, because there was some blood, sweat and tears involved (just kidding, we had ice creams). If you did not watch the video yet, shame on you! But you can find the video below ☺

Hope to see you all at PuB NiGHT tomorrow!

Review: PuB NiGHT at The Distillery

Last night’s pub night started off at The Distillery and ended in Soho Billiards. So many people joined us last night and thank you all for coming; we had a really good time!

img_1202The Distillery is a bar + kitchen in Yaletown. Its Italian-American styled and part of the Yaletown Brewing Company, which is right next to The Distillery. As the name tells you, they brew their own beer. Through the windows in the back of The Distillery you can see all the barrels in the back, which is pretty cool. The Distillery and Soho Billiards are quite the contrast; The Distillery is pretty fancy and Soho Billiards is way more casual.

We had a very large area in the back with sofas and chairs, which were really comfy. We barely fit in the area since more and more people showed up. However, we managed to fit everybody in and we were all catching up on all the adventures we had and having a good time. Then Brody decided to show off some of his Chiropractor skills and made all of our necks and shoulders feel so much better.

IMG_1213.JPGAround eleven a lot of us wanted to go and play pool, so we decided to move the party to Soho Billiard, where they have loads of pool tables and two groups ended up playing at two different tables. This was my very first time playing pool, so naturally I was terrible in playing pool. It was a lot of fun though and many of you ended up staying there for a long time.

Once again you guys made my night, so thank you for that! I hope to see you again tonight at the concert or next Wednesday at PuB NiGHT!

Super Bowl Party – Experience IT Review

Yesterday we watched the Super Bowl at The New Oxford. It was great seeing all of you there and to share this great experience with you. Thank you all for coming!

The New Oxford is a really cool bar in Yaletown. The atmosphere is great and the service is really good. There are also many specials on food and drinks in the pub. Every Monday you can get a Guinness for $5 dollars and on Tuesdays you can get a beer for only $2! Just as many other places, they also organise the wings Wednesday. Besides that, there is a lot of great food. For instance, try the curry wurst with fries for only $8 combined with one of their many beers.

A few hours before the game, we met at the pub, so that we could talk, drink and eat a bit beforehand. Then finally the match started and everybody immediately focussed on the screen. As the Super Bowl mostly takes place at night at our home cou16508702_10202686809887160_8909482734697171864_nntry, it was a new experience for many of us. We did not know what to expect and some of us did not even know the rules of the game. Luckily, the internet exists and once we looked it up, it was so much easier to watch the game.

Unfortunately, the game had a commercial break every 5 minutes. Therefore, it took so much longer to watch the game then it would have taken without the breaks. During the breaks, there was a comedian hosting the event. You could win many prices with a free coupon. Even though we were with many people and therefore had more chance to win, we did not win any prices. There were prices like $25 dollars off your bill, free beers for a year and a Playstation. Some of us wanted to watch the halftime show very badly and when the time was finally there, everybody was amazed by the flying Lady Gaga, the fireworks and all the lights used during the show. It grabbed our attention for sure.

At the beginning it looked quite obvious which team was going to win. However, the Patriots surprised us and made a huge comeback. It was the first time in 51 years that the Super Bowl was extended. It was amazing that they were able to win the game after all.

I hope the Super Bowl met all of your expectations and that you all enjoyed it! I am looking forward to seeing all of you at PuB NiGHT on Wednesday again!

HOW WAS YOUR WEEKEND?

My weekend was pretty cool! Saturday we went to CandyTown organized by the Yaletown Business Improvement Association.IMG_3035 It was a pretty small Christmas Market with local vendors where we got some inspiration about what to buy our loved ones for Christmas.

Yesterday a bunch of INTERNeX people went to Seattle for a sightseeing trip hosted by WestTrek. Once again I have to thank you for the awesome organization. Our tour guide did a great job and we could feel special since the weather was amazing too. And as you might know the rain probability in Seattle is even higher than in Vancouver, which is really unbelievable.

Furthermore all the border process went in a perfect way! We all could enter in less than hour and all of us came back even faster because we didn’t have any waiting time at all!! Anyways, let’s talk about what we have seen and experienced:

Our first stop in Seattle was probably the most popular attraction: the Space Needle. It’s a famous landmark of the Pacific Northwest and an icon for Seattle. It is built to withstand winds of up to 200 miles per hour (89m/s) and earthquakes.IMG_3065

Afterwards we headed to downtown Seattle where our guide showed us the Pike Place Market, which is the oldest farmer market in the States. You can find almost every kind of vegetables and fruits there. Other than that you can buy oils, gifts, flowers, vintage clothing and of course the super fresh fish. We almost had three hours to explore Seattle on ourselves. First of all we went to a fish restaurant and tried the super fresh fish because we were starving! It was really delicious! After lunch we went shopping, walked around in tIMG_3024he streets of Seattle and took some pictures. The streets were already decorated for the Christmas holidays and in front of Nordstrom there just set up a big Christmas tree. Lee, our tour guide, asked us to make comparisons between the behavior of Americans and Canadians. Much to our surprise we found out that the folks in Seattle are pretty much the same: friendly, helpful, open, honest, interested, cosmopolitan, …

Visiting Seattle during your stay in Vancouver is a must-do!
