How was your weekend?

The weekend is already behind us and we are back in Vancouver from our awesome trip to Whistler. Let’s have a look at what happened this weekend.

We started our trip Saturday morning at 8:30 am. The Bus drive to Whistler was amazing, as we did a few stops at different locations. Our first stop was at the Porteau Cove Provincial Park, where we had to introduce ourselves to the other candidates. After that we had lunch at Alice Lake. Some of us used the opportunity and went swimming there. Luckily we had good weather during the whole trip. 🙂23094e8f-2915-40d7-baa8-058006e68484

Once we arrived in Whistler, we had time to explore the village. There are so many tiny shops, pubs and good restaurants, so it was difficult to choose where to go first. After dinner at the hostel we decided to go to a pub with the whole crew. We played a few funny games there, for example a XXL Version of Uno. Finally we went to one of the big nightclubs of Whistler where we had a great party.

Checkout from the the hostel was early in the morning for the ones who signed up for an activity. There are a lot of different opportunities how you can spend your day in Whistler, for example zip lining, riding the peak to peak gondola or mountain biking. A big group of us decided to do zip lining and I can tell you – it’s definitely worth the money. With a maximal height of 200 meters above the ground you can reach about 100 km/h. It was amazing! I can also recommend the Peak to Peak Gondola. Guiness Records says it is the “highest cable car above ground” and “longest unsupported span between two cable car towers“. When you are on top of the mountains you have the opportunity to go hiking right next to the ski runs, which is pretty cool during the summer months.

So, time flew by really fast this weekend and I hope you enjoyed this trip as much as I did. Thanks to everyone who joined us!

See you Wednesday on Pub Night at the Two Parrots.

Review: Whistler trip

IMG_1729This weekend we went on our monthly trip to Whistler! We met up at Tim Horton’s at 7:45 AM, which was super early so luckily we could get our breakfast and coffee there. Since we are a big group Tess could check us all in at the same time and we didn’t have to stand in line, so we could all sit next to each other which is always way more fun than being divided. The Sea to Sky Highway was truly a beautiful view and our tour guide Gabrielle told us a lot of things about our surroundings which was a great addition. We had a stop at Shannon Falls, a beautiful waterfall in Squamish where some Twilight scenes were filmed.

IMG_1816.JPGAfter the stop we continued our journey to Whistler and we arrived there around 10:45 AM. We got a walking tour around the village and our tour guide told us where we needed to be for each activity. After that everybody went their own way. Zack, Iris, Tess, Kristina, Larissa and I went for a little walk around a frozen river, where we had some adventures in the snow. We ended up losing Tess, Kristina and Larissa, so we were having a little photoshoot with the three of us. After that we decided to have lunch at The Furniture Warehouse, one of those amazing $5 dollar for a meal places, and apparently we all had the same thought, because everyone had lunch there apart from each other.

17572128_1596970726997289_1157462316_oAfter lunch we went to The Brewhouse, where we had a hot drink in front of the fireplace. Then Zack went off to have fun at the tube park and Iris and I went to go bungee jumping. It’s was so scary but also the most exciting thing we’ve ever done. Sarah, Merle, Sol, Pablo and Niclas went for ziplining and they had a great time too. They even got to rent a GoPro and took some amazing shots. Tess, Kristina and Larissa decided to go to the Ice Bar for a vodka tasting where they were put in $1.500 jackets to survive the cold. They weren’t allowed to lick the walls because their tongues would get stuck on there, which disappointed them a little. But luckily you can actually taste the real flavour of vodka in -32˚, so they got a whole new experience as well.

After all the activities it was time to get on the bus back to Vancouver and everybody got to exchange their stories. We had a lot of fun and judging by your stories you did too, so thank you all for joining us!

INTERNeX is going to Whistler!

Sad that you missed out on our last trip to Kelowna or excited to go on another trip with the INTERNeX family? Then this trip to Whistler on the 25th of March is perfect for you!

20106059240_04203fb028_oWhistler is a must see in Canada! It is a beautiful city close to Vancouver. It is mainly known as a skiing and snowboarding resort. In 2010, Whistler even hosted some events of the Winter Olympics. We will not be able to go skiing or snowboarding, but there are a lot of other activities to do!

Our one day trip includes a sightseeing tour on the beautiful Sea to Sky Highway, a stop in Shannon Falls and a walking tour in Whistler Village. So make sure to take your camera with you on this trip. After the sightseeing tour we have some free time. You can choose to ride the peak 2 peak gondola on top of the mountains, which will give you a beautiful view over the city and the mountains. Or do you still have snowmobiling on your bucketlist? Then the Whistler day-trip is the perfect time for you to cross it off. You can also let your inner child free by doing some snow tubing in the tube park. Other activities are snowshoeing, dog sledding or sleigh riding and if you want to do something more extreme, try out bungee jumping or ziplining!

I18591095366_e91541873b_of you want to join the trip, sign up and pay in cash at the INTERNeX office or during PuB NiGHT before the 10th of March. The trip costs $50 including transportation and the sightseeing tour. All activities mentioned above are optional and are additional expenses. To stay updated, check out the Facebook event.

What to do on the weekend

Now that it finally stopped snowing, there is no reason to stay inside anymore. This time some of us even got an extra day of weekend, as Monday is Family Day. So get outside and get the most out your extra long weekend!

First of all, there is 24 hours of Winter on Grouse Mountain this weekend. It starts at Saturday and continues till Sunday. During this event you can ski during the day and night together with the INTERNeX family. It will be a totally different experience with skiing for sure! However, there are also a lot of other events such as the Light Walk, snowshoeing and ziplining. Some of us are going to do the Light Walk instead, so if you are not feeling like skiing this weekend, you should definitely join us on the Light Walk.

You don’t feel like seeing any snow after this week? We definitely get that as well! Instead of the 24 hours of Winter, you can also go ice skating at Robson Square for free or $4 if you have to rent some skates. You are able to do this from Friday till Monday. Is ice still too cold for you? Then check out the Second-hand Book Sale at Nikkel National Museum & Cultural Centre in Burnaby between noon and 4 pm.

After all that cold, you should definitely get a hot chocolate during the Hot Chocolate Festival. There are lots of hot chocolates specials throughout Vancouver the whole weekend long. Furthermore, Saturday is the first day of the International Wine Festival in Vancouver. The International Wine Festival contains a lot of events such as auctions, dinners and tastings. After a long week, this may be the perfect way for you to prepare you for next week again. However, if you do not have time for the International Wine Festival this weekend, you can still check it out till the 19th of February.

On Family Day there are also a lot of events such as Family Day at Grouse Mountain and Skiing at Manning Park. At Family Day at Grouse Mountain you get 50% off from the admission to the mountain and at Skiing at Manning Park you also get 50% off on ski and trail tickets. This is a cheap way for you to get active and make the best out of your stay!

Have a great weekend and see you on Grouse Mountain!
