What to do on the weekend?

Can you believe it’s already the last weekend before Christmas?! I feel like time flew by soooo fast the past few weeks, I didn’t even realize Christmas was literally around the corner until today!! So what is there to do on a nice weekend like this, you might ask yourself… well let me tell you a bunch of stuff that’s happening right now! 😄

Firstly, INTERNeX is going ice-skating in Robson Square this Saturday. I feel like this is a MUST when it comes to winter activities! Plus, it’s free entry and rentals are only a few bucks, which is perfect for us! 🤩 Were gonna meet in the afternoon, so that it’s already a little dark outside when we get there, so we can really get in the mood and see all the beautiful lights!

If you’re looking to do some shopping for yourself or for some Holiday gifts for your loved ones, don’t worry I have a few recommendations for you as well! This weekend is the last Holiday Bop ‘n Shop at Eastside Flea Market where you can get a bunch of awesome vintage clothes, jewellery, decoration, Christmas ornaments, as well as drinks and food! The Bop ‘n Shop is today (Friday) in the evening, but if you can’t make it, there’s also the regular markets on Saturday and Sunday. Besides that, you might also wanna check out Granville Island for some cute presents or maybe you can take a stroll down Granville Street or head to a mall to get some nice gifts.

There’s also a bunch of other cool events happening in Vancouver this weekend, so I’ll just give you a quick rundown of them and maybe something will spark your interest! INTERNeX just did a trip to the Christmas market recently and if you haven’t gone already, I definitely recommend! You can check out all the different kinds of drinks & food (which are actually pretty close to their German originals) and look for some Christmas decoration or maybe you can also find some nice gifts!
There are also a lot of light festivals happening at the moment to get you in the winter-spirit like the VanDusen Festival of Lights, the PNE Winter Fair, Bright Nights at Stanley Park, the Whole Rock Bright Walk and lots of others! 😊

Whatever you decide to do, I hope you have fun and are able to get into the Holiday spirit one way or another! I can’t wait to hear about your awesome weekend experience next Pub Night!

Toodles!

Review: FlyOver Canada experience

Last Saturday we went to the great FlyOver Canada experience. Luckily we didn’t have to worry about the terrible weather… the FlyOver Canada experience takes place indoors. We met outside in the pouring rain and tried to take shelter as quickly as possible.

Of course we went through some extra rooms where the theme was all about Halloween. Going through these different rooms you’re also starting to get in the mood for the final virtual ride. We were all a bit exited when going in to the room for the experience that we had been waiting for… the ride across Canada.

After we got seated in the chairs, the floor underneath the chairs was being rolled back and we could see the full size of the giant screen. To make the experience feel even more realistic the chairs were moving around, a bit of wind and water was blown into our faces, and of course we could also hear the sound of a helicopter. We were all amazed how real it actually felt, and for sure it was worth approx. $18 that each of us paid. Thanks to all of you who joined and made the experience even better.

This experience can definitively be recommended to those of you who didn’t have the chance to join last Saturday. Bring a couple of friends, and for sure you won’t get bored.

We’re getting closer to our amazing Portland trip. And this is not just a virtual ride 🙂 So don’t hesitate to sign up through our Facebook event page where you can also read more about the trip. It’s only $229 for a 3 day trip (November 14th – November 16th) + $30 for an NBA match! And you can also get your Christmas shopping done in advance. It’ll be awesome!

Upcoming Portland trip

Only one month left until we’re going to Portland, so we want to give you some more information about what to bring for crossing the border to the US.

-Passport (Passports must be valid and be Machine-readable). All passports issued from 2006 and after are Machine-Readable. The date of issue is stated in your passport.

-Everyone must pay US immigration $6 USD at the border to process entry (please have exact change)

– Proof of medical insurance. Not required but definitely recommendable in case you accidentally get ill or injured (although the trip does not include hazardous activities).

– Any kind of proof that you’re going back to Canada. Can be a document proving that you’re participating in a study program in Canada, proof of work in Canada, or proof that you’re doing a practicum in Canada.

– In case your country is included in the visa waiver program you don’t need to apply for any other visa documents. A lot of countries are included in the visa waiver program. You can check the list here.

– Since we’re driving across the border you don’t need the ESTA tourist visa. This is only needed when entering the US on an air or sea carrier.

– Also important are some good walking shoes

Also remember to always have your passport on you when you go out in the US. Some places only accept your passport as ID.

A reminder what is included in the price of only $229:

• All Tips & Taxes
• Deluxe Coach Transportation
• 2 Nights Hotel Accommodation
• 2 Continental Breakfasts
• A Cool Canadian Guide
• & Much More!!

Hope many of you will join us for this great trip.
