PuB NiGHT Review: Portside Pub

Wednesday nights are our favourite one’s! Why? Because it is PuB NiGHT of course! Every week, we are meeting at another place in Vancouver to enjoy a fun evening together.

Yesterday, we were welcomed at the Portside Pub in Gastown. As the name might tell you already, this pub gives you the feeling of sitting in a cozy boat while drinking a beer and sailing on the big, wild sea. The chairs around our table were taken quickly, so it was time to share the newest stories about placements, work, future travel plans, the annoying roommate or the lovely host mom. It is always fascinating how much we actually have in common, even though we are all coming from different parts of the world.

After a while of chatting, the serious part of the night started: karaoke. The lyrics were projected on a big screen, so everyone could sing along with the brave person behind the microphone at the front of the pub. (So it was actually not that serious.) The star of the night: Julian who surprised the crowd with the song “To love somebody”. Wow, that was amazing!

The rest of the night passed by quickly with singing and dancing along to great performances. And one, maybe even two freshly tapped beers. However, at the end of the night we found ourselves not back on sea, but in beautiful Gastown. Luckily!

Keep your chins up, soon it will be weekend again! I hope to see you on Sunday for a tour behind the scenes at the Rogers Arena.

PuB NiGHT Review: The Bottleneck

‘How many Oscars won the film The Shape of Water?’ No clue? Neither did we. With this and more difficult questions, we had to deal yesterday night during our pub night at The Bottleneck. So today, we are a bit smarter than yesterday.

The Bottleneck is a small bar in the middle of the entertainment street Granville. It is quite hidden, so you have to watch out to find the entrance. Suddenly, the pub was quickly filled with motivated players for the ‘Get Smarty Trivia’, which is hosted every Wednesday at the Bottleneck. Even though we tried to figure out the answers in teamwork, it was really hard! Many of them were American focused, but at least we could proudly name the neighbour countries of Luxembourg. All in all, the trivia was a fun mix of film, music, history and cultural questions.

After all the questions were asked, we handed our creative answers to our neighbours and we got to know the solutions. And we won a prize! For being the second last, but a prize is a prize, so we were happy about it. Until we tried our free winner drinks … We all had never seen a drink like this before. A Canadian speciality called ‘Bloody Caesar’ includes vodka, clamato juice, Worcestershire and Tabasco. And because this combination is not weird enough, you get pickled asparagus, celery, chirozo, prawn and beet on top! We had quite a hard time to finish those drinks. Respect, Canadians!

Oh and by the way, The Shape of Water won 4 Oscars 😉

See you on Sunday for a relaxed stroll on Granville Island!

PuB NiGHT Review

So many people, so many beers.. It was a good one.

Thanks to everyone who showed up at yesterday’s pub night at Malone’s.

Shortly after we arrived West Trek showed the movies from the tours from the past weekend. Man, that looked tight! So much fun. Guessing that everyone is super excited now for our Rockies trip starting August 28?! Did you see all those lakes? Cannot wait to make one of them my favourite 😉

So, why not come to the office to secure your spot for this fantastic event?

Anyhow, after showing all the movies the DJ turned up the music and quickly people moved to the dance floor, where the girls AND boys moved their hips and danced! We already knew that Amiel is a talented man, and now we even know that he can rap too! He knew the lyrics to Eminem’s ‘Lose Yourself’ too well!

After plenty of beers and some sick dance moves the music stopped and the lights were switched on. However, that certainly did not end our night! A last bunch of people tried to find happiness in the Cambie, so that’s where we went. We drank some more, talked some more and laughed some more and then, finally, it was time to head home (at like 1.45 am :D).

How is everyone feeling today? Has the hangover left its trace on you? For sure Amiel and me have been better before xD!

Get enough rest before the weekend starts because this Saturday’s Brewery Crawl is meant to be a good one! In the meantime your favourite PR coordinators are planning some more events for you that will happen this August.

Hang in there and catch up soon!

Your PR team,

Amiel & Natasja
