Smart Saver Vancouver

Hands up, who starts the day with a freshly brewed coffee? If you are a coffee lover, then Vancouver is certainly a paradise for you! Coffee places are literally at every corner. Even if you wouldn’t mention coffee as your favourite drink, a coffee place is an awesome place to meet people, clear your mind or even take your laptop and get some work done. The downside of all those visits is of course the costs. So here are some tips to lower your coffee place expenses!

34628291_1746856278740728_6024587850580754432_nFirst of all, you can save some money if you order a regular coffee instead of a fancy latte. Just pimp the simple coffee yourself with as much milk, sugar, cinnamon or cacao as you want. All these extras are usually available for free here, so just be your own barista!

Starbucks is one of the most famous coffee brands in the world and they are just everywhere in Vancouver. At Starbucks, you can already receive a small discount if you bring your own mug. It does not only help the environment, but you also have to pay ten cents less for your drink. Doesn’t seem like a lot, I know, but if you do that ten times you already saved a loonie for your next coffee. 😉

You can easily join the Starbucks Rewards program. All you need to do is register a physical Starbucks Card, Teavana Card, Evolution Fresh Card or Starbucks Card eGift online and create an account. Once you have registered, you collect stars for every dollar you spent, which you can redeem for free food and drinks. Also, you can profit from monthly special offers. Last month for example, we enjoyed cheap, delicious Frappuccino’s at the office. Next to that, you get a reward for your birthday and free in-store refills. You can check it out here.

There are also plenty of delicious non-coffee drinks available at coffee places. Blenz is currently offering a special to celebrate the start of the summer season. Bring your friends and enjoy one of their Iced Tea Lemonades. The flavours sound delicious: mango ginger, strawberry cucumber and melon berry. You pay one and get the second lemonade for free! This offer is valid from June 5 to June 18 between 2 – 5pm at all Blenz Coffee locations.

I hope you enjoy some good coffees and lemonades, guys!

See you tonight at The Relish!

Smart Saver Vancouver

As Vancouver can be quite expensive, we would like to help you save money during your stay in Vancouver. Every Wednesday we are going to write about special offers, cheap areas and special events, so you can get the best out of your stay.

Currently, there is an amazing event taking place in Vancouver, called Dine Out Vancouver festival. This is a yearly event which takes place from the 20th of January 2017 till the 5th of February 2017. During this festival you can eat at a lot restaurants for a fixed price. All restaurants create a new menu for Dine Out from which you can choose your courses. There are three different prices offered, you can get meals for $20, $30 or $40 dollar (excluding tax). For this price you get a total of at least three different courses. As it is only the 25th of January, there is still plenty of time to go out for dinner in one of the greatest restaurants of Vancouver. However, keep in mind that some of the restaurants do not take any reservations during Dine Out and it will be busier as well. Even though this could cause a waiting time, this event gives you the opportunity to dine at a more expensive restaurant and is therefore definitely worth to check it out.

Last Monday, we celebrated my birthday and there is one big thing that I noticed. Vancouver is a great city to celebrate your birthday in, as you can get lots 16237741_10208101304591363_27716976_nof things for free. In order to get those free gifts and meals, you mostly need to sign up for a free membership or an email list. In the morning you can get a free breakfast at Denny’s. If you have not had enough breakfast yet, you can also score a breakfast at IHOP. After that you can start shopping free gifts. You can, for example, get free gifts at Sephora and Old Navy. Do you prefer to get a coffee instead of hanging around in the mall? By signing up for the Starbucks gift card online, you can get a drink for free. Finish your day with a free dinner at, for example, La Casita or Red Robin. As a meal is not complete without a dessert, you should get your free dessert at Boston Pizza or Marble Slab Creamery. There are a lot more places for free gifts that can make your birthday as enjoyable as possible.

One thing that you may have noticed already, is that food is not really cheap in a place like Vancouver. Especially brands such as Coca Cola are expensive? mostly not affordable. Therefore, this offer really stood out for us. At the moment, you can get three bottles of Coca Cola at the London Drugstore for $4. If you prefer to drink brands as these, this offer can save you a lot of money.

Hopefully, these tips will help you save some money because the more you save, the more you can do!

WHAT TO DO ON THE WEEKEND?

Here we go again! Unbelievable time flies so fast. Not only that the next weekend is right around the corner but also Christmas is approaching very fast and I’m done with my practicum in three weeks already . . . Anyways, any plans for the weekend?
Christmas Market season 8250708126_6331343ffa_oalready starts this weekend!!
For sure you shouldn’t miss the Vancouver Christmas Market where you can have typical German “Glühwein” and “Bratwurst’’. That one is located at Queen Elizabeth Theatre Plaza, West Georgia Street and Hamilton and transforms the heart of downtown into a festive wonderland for the holiday season.

Not every Christmas market in town is for free, so the Vancouver Christmas Market (admission: ~ $8) but the one in Yaletown is definitely for free! The Yaletown holiday festival, called CandyTown, is just once a year. This year, on November 21, a lot of street vendors will again sell their candies, waffles, Christmas presents and much more.
Additionally dressed up characters will participate in Christmas parades. Downtown Yaletown will be transformed into a winter/Christmas wonderland. If you’re not yet in the Christmas mood you’ll definitely have the chance to get into the mood at this market. The outdoor Christmas festival opens from 12pm to 7pm, local artisans and street performers will secure that you don’t getting bored.

On Sunday it’s time for us to go to Seattle just for a day. We are going with WestTrek, which means a lot of fun is guaranteed. Besides having fun we will do some sightseeing and of course you will also have some time to do some shopping. Possibly even buying some Christmas presents already since shopping in the States is much cheaper than in Vancouver. But it’s not all about shopping quite the contrary we are going to downtown Seattle and along the way we will stop at the Space Needle, which was designed as a futuristic spaceship in 1962. We will also go to the Pike Place Market! It’s one of the most visited places in Seattle because the seafood there is supposed to be amazing. This is also where the first Starbucks was built in 1971 and still exists!

To check our Seattle itinerary, please click here.

DEPARTURE is at 8:00am so make sure you are in front of the Waterfront Station 15 minutes prior (7:45am).

Have a nice weekend and see you on Sunday!

Frappuccino Happy Hour

The Frappuccino Happy Hour is back @ Starbucks. From the 1st of May till the 10th of May you can buy all sizes of Frappuccinos and just pay the half of the price. Of course their have still the classic ones such as Caffe Vanilla Frappuccino, Green Tea Creme and Strawberries & Cream and much more. My favourite is the Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccino, you should check it out.

So go and enjoy your Frappuccino 🙂

INTERNeX Canada: How to arrive to the new office

As you know, we start this week in a new office. It’s located in the Tinseltown- International Village Mall, a shopping center full of shops and delicious things to eat. Mercedes and I were worried about that fact, so we made a promise each other: try to cook (healthy food) at home and avoid lunch every day here because we can get fat very easily here. But the temptation is too strong 😦

Anyway we are so happy! The new place is fantastic. You will be able to see it in the next HiGHLiGHTS of the week… this week is our 10th episode so we are preparing a very special video with very funny content but you will have to wait until this Friday to watch it!

Maybe it can be a bit confused gets to the new office because you can be lost in the mall. For that reason, we’ve made three videos with the three different ways to come to visit us.

Today, I want to show you how to arrive if you arrive with the SkyTrain Station – Stadium & Chinatown. The closest entrance is in Keefer with Abbott Street. You will see a little square and one Starbucks.

Check it out!

Now it’s impossible to be lost! Now that you know where we are, you can come to visit us and bring some food with you!
