How was the weekend?

Sports, sports and… more sports! INTERNeX was definitely in a very sporty mood this past weekend! I mean, how could you not be with the Canucks advancing to round 2?! Let me tell you all about our fun experience this past weekend!

On Friday some of us INTERNeXers went to the away game viewing party at Rogers Arena. Let me tell you: the experience was 100% worth it! Tickets to the viewing parties are only $15 and you get a free playoffs towel! Almost all the food & drinks shops were running too and the atmosphere is just incredible! OF course, this game was especially fun because the Canucks finally beat the Nashville Predators and made it to round 2 of the playoffs!! đŸ¥³ Woooo! That means that now they have to play against the Edmonton Oilers… those should be some really fun and intense games! In the stadium everyone was sooo happy and it was just such an amazing feeling to celebrate this achievement together with so many fans! After the game there was of course a huge parade from the Stadium to downtown with cars honking, towel power, cheering, clapping and just excitement all over! If there’s another viewing party for round 2, I HIGHLY suggest checking it out cause its just absolutely a once in a lifetime experience! I mean, what are the odds of the Canucks competing for the Stanley Cup Playoffs while you’re in Vancouver?!

On Saturday we also went to a Whitecaps game! This was actually their 50 year anniversary, so there was quite a few people there! I have to say, this football definitely doesn’t compare to the stuff we’re used to from Europe. But the food was so much better lol! We usually don’t really have that many options and there’s also more variety than at Rogers Arena.
It was still a super fun experience and it was really cool to the BC Place! The stadium, is actually huge!! It doesn’t really feel that big at first, but once you see how much larger the actual court is (compared to Rogers Arena), you notice how big BC place really is!

Overall it was a very fun weekend and we’re so excited to watch the second round of playoffs and of course we’re gonna cheer as loud as we can for the Canucks! The next game is actually gonna be during our Pub Night, so I’ll see ya there! đŸ˜„

Toodles!

Thank God It’s Friday!

It is Friday again, which normally means: WEEKEND. However, today it is Good Friday, so probably some of you have a day off today! Easter is also right around the corner – it falls on Sunday April 24. So what are you going to do this Easter Weekend? Here are some tips for the people who have no plans yet!

—————————————————————————————————————————-

VANCOUVER

Who doesn’t want to celebrate Easter with the Easter bunny, Easter egg hunts and all sorts of games? Maybe it is not for everyone, however if you would like to get the real Easter feeling, you should go to Stanley Park and celebrate ‘Easter in the park’. There will be an Easter egg hunt for all ages. Also, they will have a train riding on the park’s famous miniature railway. This event starts today (Friday April 22) and runs until Monday, April 25th. It starts at 11 am till 4 pm. It will probably be quite sunny this Saturday, so it will be a good day to go the park anyway :D. Don’t forget to bring your Easter basket!

WHISTLER

We have already post about this last weekend, however the TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival is still running until this weekend. This year the TWSSF will celebrate its sweet sixteen and they will do it in style. It’s a really big event full of snowboarding, skiing, snow, partying and fun! Their main slogan is: ‘‘Party in April, Sleep in May’. Live it, breathe it, believe it. The festival started April 15 and the last day of the festival will be this Sunday the 24th.

REVELSTOKE

For the sporty people under us in Revelstoke, there is the Annual Stoke to Spoke Race. This is a triathlon involving snowboarding or skiing, biking and navigating an obstacle course to the finish line. When reached the finish line they will have to chug a beverage. This annual race has been held to celebrate the transition from winter to spring. You can compete either as individual or in teams of three. Of course there are also prizes to win, for the top three finishers in solo and team categories, along with best costume and best wipeout, and also the oldest and youngest competitors.
The festival starts at 8.30 am and will end around 4 pm. Go and cheer for the participants or just enjoy the live music by Cornstarr.

Hopefully everyone will enjoy their (long) weekend! Let me know what you are going to do this weekend? Or if you have any tips for the other candidates please share them with us by leaving a comment :D.

Have a good weekend everyone and Happy Easter to you all!

Cheers,
Claudia

Bike Ride Through Stanley Park

Hi,

I want to thank everyone that came to the Bike ride yesterday. I had a great time.

We started our day at the Bayshore Bike Rental company so that those of us that did not have a bike could rent one. Rentals cost are $6.00 per hour or if you are a student $4.00 per hour. You can also rent roller skates for only $5 pe0r hour.  For more information about Bayshore Rental, see their website.

After getting our bikes we started our journey to Stanley Park. Before reaching Stanley Park we biked on the Seawall. The Seawall is 22 km in total and takes you all over town, including Stanley Park. For more information about the Seawall can be found here.

When we arrived in Stanley Park we decided to first bike around the park so we could enjoy the beautiful scenery. When biking around Stanley Park you will come across the the totem poles, the girl in the wetsuit and many more.

The bike ride is pretty easy throughout the park, although at one point the hill we had to bike up was to steep for me and I had to walk the rest of it.

After riding all around Stanley Park we decided to also go through the park. That turned out to be a great idea as we saw a lot of wild life. We saw a raccoon, squirrel, a woodpecker and many other birds. Especially around Bever Lake we saw a lot of birds.

After a day biking through Stanley Park we still have not seen everything so we will definitely go back another time, hopefully you will join us next time!
